Minnesota Bill would Ban Trans Women from Women Teams

Minnesota HF 350 Student participation in athletic teams restricted will amend the Minnesota Statutes 2020, Section 121A.04, to include sex. This bill prohibits trans women from participating in gender affirming school sports teams by permitting only female’s to play on the girls/women’s team.

How does this bill effect students who are intersex? Intersexuality is a term used to describe people who don’t fit into the binary of male or female. Sex is dependent on a number of biological characteristics including genitalia, hormones, internal anatomy, and chromosomes. Many people like to claim that intersex is such a rare occasion that it’s irrelevant, but someone being intersex is as common as someone having red hair.
