I've delayed writing this post for quite a while, partly due to the fact that I still struggle with connecting myself to the idea of being a survivor, and even more so, a...
Prostasia’s Survivor Expressions project is a platform for CSA survivors to tell their stories in their own words and own way. Some language and situations may be shocking and traumatic to other readers so we ask that you take do what you need to in order to protect yourself.
Each month, Prostasia will present a new survivor story, we will give a little info about each survivor (if they wish), and then we will present their story in their own words or illustrations.
Prostasia will endeavor to tag each story with Content Warnings for content that may be challenging to consume.
The hope of this project is two-fold. Firstly, we hope this will be a safe space for survivors to share their experiences. A platform to tell your story can be a very powerful thing. Secondly, we hope it is a place where others may feel less alone. Many victims of CSA end up feeling isolated because of their trauma. Knowing others can understand and sympathize can make a huge difference in recovery.
The past cannot be changed but we can work to end CSA while honoring survivors.
