New Child Protection Organization Formed As Sex Websites Forced Offline

Prostasia Foundation claims to be the first sex-positive child protection group

Former underage sex worker wants to prevent others from suffering the same fate

San Francisco, CA – April 16, 2018 – The formation of a new child protection organization was announced today, as the Prostasia Foundation opened a crowdfunding campaign1 to raise funds for its mission to eliminate child sexual abuse.

The launch of the organization follows the passage of SESTA, the Stop Enabling Sex Traffickers Act, on March 21, and the subsequent seizure or closure of a number of sex-related websites, including Backpage.com and the personals section of Craiglist.

Prostasia Director Jaylen MacLaren is a former underage sex worker who used a website like this to screen her clients. She now recognizes those clients as abusers, but she does not blame the website for her suffering.

I am committed to preventing child sexual abuse, but I don’t believe that this should come at the cost of civil liberties and sexual freedom,” Jaylen said. “I have found ways to express my sexuality in consensual and cathartic ways.”

Executive Director Jeremy Malcolm said, “Our mission is to ensure that the elimination of child sexual abuse is achieved consistently with the highest values of the society that we would like our children to grow up in.”

Nerea Vega Lucio, a member of the group’s Advisory Council, said “Child protection laws need to be informed by accurate and impartial research, and ensuring that policy makers have access to such research will be a top priority for Prostasia.

Pearl Regalado, also a Director of the new organization, said, “Topics like child abuse and sex work can be very polarizing. What makes this organization special is its aim to find balance between the free and open Internet, sex rights and safe legal sexual expression, all while keeping child sexual abuse prevention at its forefront.
